CARLOS YÉLAMOS

Dr. Carlos Yélamos gained a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry at the Universidad de Alcalá in 1990. He remained at Alcalá to obtain his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1996 under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Mena. Between 1996-1998, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Wayne State University (Detroit, USA) working with Professor Charles H. Winter. This was followed with a second postdoctoral fellowship, at the Universidad de Alcalá, working with Dr. Miguel Mena until March 2001. Since that time, Carlos Yélamos has been Ayudante de Universidad (April 2001-September 2001), Profesor Titular Interino de Universidad (Assistant Professor, October 2001-December 2002), Profesor Titular de Universidad (Associate Professor, January 2003-March 2021) and, since April 2021, he is Catedrático de Universidad (Full Professor) at the Universidad de Alcalá.

Research Interest

His main research interests are in the field of coordination and organometallic chemistry, with an emphasis on synthesis, structure and reactivity of imido, nitrido, halide, and hydride polynuclear early transition metal systems. A topic of particular interest in his recent research program is the activation and functionalization of the dinitrogen molecule at metal complexes. Selected publications in these areas:
